Pressure Washing

A tired driveway is rarely a broken one. Years of moss, algae, weeds and traffic grime sit on the surface and in the joints, and no amount of scrubbing with a brush shifts it. A professional pressure wash strips that layer off and shows the surface underneath, which on most Essex drives and patios is in far better condition than the dirt suggested.

We clean block paving, natural stone and porcelain patios, concrete, tarmac, resin bound surfaces, decking, paths, walls and garden features. Every job is quoted individually after a free site visit, so you get one fixed written price before any work starts.

Held too close or on a narrow jet, a pressure washer does real damage. It scours stripes into slabs, lifts the colour out of block paving and blows the jointing sand straight out of block paved driveways, which is what leaves the blocks rocking a few months later. Resin is even less forgiving: a close zero degree jet can strip the resin coating off the aggregate for good.

So we match the method to the surface. Block paving gets a rotary surface cleaner and a fresh application of kiln dried sand once the joints are dry. Resin gets a wide fan at low pressure, held well back, with stubborn moss cleared by hand first. Tarmac gets the gentlest treatment of all, because aggressive washing lifts the fines out of the surface.

If a surface is beyond cleaning, we will say so. A driveway that has lost its colour to UV or slabs that have been scoured by a previous jet wash will not come back with a wash, and we would rather tell you that on the site visit than sell you a clean that changes nothing. Where a repair or a relay is the honest answer, that is a conversation about our patio and landscaping or block paving services instead.
